Different trips, different answers. Mo'orea needs no certification at all — whale encounters happen on snorkel. But you need to be a confident, strong open-water swimmer: you'll cover at least 100 metres from the boat to the whales and back, sometimes against current, with enough left in the tank to actually be present in the encounter. Fuvahmulah is scuba. Open Water is enough to dive with us — our iconic tiger site sits at around 8 metres, so you're with the tigers from day one. Advanced Open Water is highly recommended though, because most of the island's other sites are deep walls, often with strong current, and that's where Fuvahmulah really opens up. Not certified for that yet? We run both the Deep specialty and the full Advanced Open Water course right here at Liquid Shark Divers, so you can pick it up on-site with us. Every trip page states its honest baseline. If you're unsure where you stand, ask me before you book — I'd rather have that conversation early.

As early as you can. Mo'orea runs four guests per week, the Fuvahmulah weeks take eight to ten people — and the good weeks sell from the waitlist before they're announced publicly. Applying costs nothing and commits you to nothing. It just starts the conversation.

The pattern across my trips: ocean days, accommodation, local transfers, and the workshops are in. International flights, travel insurance (always mandatory), and most breakfasts and restaurant bills are out. Every trip page carries a complete included/not-included list — I keep those honest so your budget maths actually works.

A 50% reservation fee secures your spot and is non-refundable — small groups mean your yes takes a seat someone else wanted. The balance is due as stated in your booking, usually about three months before the trip, and can often be split into two or three installments. Cancel up to 90 days before start and the balance comes back to you; inside 90 days, payments stay with the trip unless we can fill your spot. This is exactly why travel insurance is mandatory.

Often, yes — Mo'orea doesn't require diving at all, and several Fuvahmulah setups work beautifully with a topside partner along. It depends on the villa setup and the week's rhythm, so mention it in your application and we'll figure out what's fair on price and space.
