FUVAHMULAH, MALDIVES

FACE TO FACE WITH APEX PREDATORS

Fuvahmulah is like stepping into another world: a raw, untamed paradise in the middle of the Indian Ocean. This tiny Maldivian island is unique in every sense, from its singular geography to the extraordinary marine life that surrounds it. Unlike the rest of the Maldives, Fuvahmulah isn’t part of an atoll. It’s a lone island that rises out of the deep blue, bordered by dramatic cliffs, lush greenery, and the warm waters of the equator.

Underwater, Fuvahmulah truly comes alive. Known as the “Shark Island”, it’s one of the few places in the world where you can encounter tiger sharks daily, year-round. These majestic creatures glide gracefully in the currents, offering divers a rare chance to observe them up close. Depending on the season, you might also spot hammerhead sharks, thresher sharks, whale sharks, or even mola mola. The sheer diversity is mind-blowing.

Above water, Fuvahmulah remains beautifully authentic. Life here feels slower, more grounded. It’s the perfect blend of adventure and simplicity - no towering resorts or bustling crowds, just nature in its purest form.

What are the key requirements to join this expedition?

Open Water Diver: Participants must be open water certified divers (better advanced, since most of the dive sites around Fuvahmulah are quite deep).

Are shark sightings guaranteed?

Tiger shark sightings are pretty much guaranteed, as they are here year-round. However, keep in mind that this is still the open ocean - each encounter is guided by a touch of luck and nature’s unpredictability. As for shark species and big pelagic, we’ll do everything possible to stack the odds in our favor. With extended time on the water, a highly experienced captain and dive guides, we’ll maximize our chances.

Do I have to be a photographer to join?

No! Whether you’re an underwater enthusiast, a photographer, or simply someone who feels drawn to the ocean’s magic, if you’ve ever dreamed of experiencing a connection with a shark, this is your chance. Let’s make memories that will stay with you forever.

What should I bring?

A detailed packing list will be sent closer to the date, but here are a few essentials to keep in mind:

Reef-safe sunscreen: Protect your skin and the ocean.

Sea sickness medicine: Stay comfortable during boat rides.

Appropriate clothing: Fuvahmulah has a modest dress code. Cover up appropriately - bikinis are not allowed on the beaches, and modest clothing is appreciated around the island.

Sense of adventure: The most important thing to pack!
